Hi,

I have been looking at 660?s and trying to find out how many were made and how many diesels were made. I have been getting different numbers from different places I look.

Does anyone have reliable info of how many total and how many diesel built???

Thank you

I want to say if I remember correctly there were 1083 row crop 660's made.... 15 of which were painted Cockshutt.

Since you have interest in the 660 tractor I'll add some information for what it is worth (this and $1.50 will get you a coffee most places).   I have gone through the build cards on this model.   There was a total of 1454 model 660 built, however if memory serves me there was only 1059 that were Row Crop tractors.   Others were "Special Build" shipped for road rollers, sweepers or high lift, quite a few were marked export.

There was two built on January 13, 1959, first serial number was 73 132 both were shipped January 14, 1959 to the Dallas Branch.   The last Row Crop was serial number 141 728 built Feb. 4, 1964, shipped to Santa Maria, California.  The last 660 was Serial number 144 039 from the above Row Crop were "Special Build".   Interestingly 144 039 was not shipped until August 19, 1969 to the Dallas Branch.

First Cockshutt 660 was built Jan. 10, 1963, then 7 built on Feb. 20, 63 and another 7 on Feb. 21, 63.   All were gas engines and 14 of the 15 were adjustable front axle, other dual front.   All were shipped 2, 25, 63 to Goodison Industries Sarnia, Ontario.   The last 14 tractors are between serial number 129 261 to 129 283, note that there was 9 tractors built between these numbers that were of another model.

Can't answer your engine mix question, Oliver did not build 4 cylinder LP tractors.

I have the 12th Oliver built and know where 5 of the Cockshutt tractors are, I have the 4th Cockshutt built.

Thank you for that information!

I saw one of the Cockshutt 660 a couple of years ago, still in its original paint he claimed and looked like from a picture. Needed deep pockets to have owned it though.

Do you have a picture of your Cockshutt?? You don?t happen to know how many 770s were painted Cockshutt colours?? I have a 770 Cockshutt that we bought from the original family of owners.

That is an interesting 770! Do you have the serial number? I am guessing that is an early 770 Cockshutt since it has the clamshell fenders. I was of the opinion the flat fenders came out in 1963 but don't have a parts book to check. What grill is in the tractor metal or plastic? I have an idea the fenders don't have Oliver on them either! My e-mail is open! Thanks. J.

Hi,

This one is a 1963 sn#135155

It has the steel grill, and no the fenders do not have Oliver in them.
