1850 Perkins sleeve replacement

I just brought home a 1850 with a stuck engine, I have not given up on getting it unstuck but am looking at my options, I notice some engine kit have a disclaimer about machine work that must be done to the block (chamfering) this would not seem practical for an in-frame job, can I tell if this will be needed before the tear down?
Tractor serial 198xxx engine serial number 354U43136

The early Perkins used heavy press fit sleeves with NO counter bore at the top, that's why the service note is with some sleeves with dimensions for cutting the counter bore. If I recall the blocks with letters UA in the serial # means the block has the flange sleeves installed. Block MAY have already been updated if engine has ever had service before. Won't know for sure until the head is pulled..

A 198 serial number makes it kind of a late 1850. Engine numbers that start 354 U is also the second method of 354 Perkins serial numbers. I do not remember Oliver using 2 different styles of sleeves in the 1850 diesels. However, Rich is correct, they are a very tight press fit in other words it was a good thing I was able to borrow a 50 Ton sleeve puller to get those sleeves out. My experience has been the sleeves showed very little wear, but some of the pistons were damaged because of broken rings. More questions? J.
