clutch not disengaging?

77 has mostly sat for a couple of decades. Running good now, but clutch doesn't seem to fully disengage from flywheel. Can be forced "ground" into gear with clutch depressed, but clearly not a good idea!
Is this more likely to be an adjustment problem or a split the tractor problem? I remember as a kid we'd do something to the wheat truck to pop loose a stuck clutch, but don't recall what what.

Any ideas anyone? Thanx!

You don't split a 77 for clutch problems! You have a serial number for the tractor? Later ones had a ball bearing pilot bearing. If they fail, your clutch will not release properly. Does it make any noises when you try to engage the clutch?

I had a 1900 do the same thing, what was odd was if you put it in gear and started it with the clutch depressed you could pull it out of gear and slip it into another gear as long as you did not release the clutch, turned out to be a fractured clutch face that would "swing" out from centrifugal force and rub against the flywheel (because the clutch is inset into the flywheel.
