Has anyone ever made up a list of former Cockshutt dealers from the 1950's and 60's? There was
only one dealer in my area and that was at Kenoma,Missouri..He sold quite a few tractors and several
combines...In the early 1970's Dad owned a 427 Cockshutt combine that was sold new there...If no one
is doing it it I would be glad to make a dealer list..

Hi,

No one is working on a former COCKSHUTT Dealer List.

I have the following:

1958 listing of the Cockshutt dealers in the New York/New England distribution area served the New York Mills, NY Factory Depot of Cockshutt Farm Equipment Co. This was just outside of UTICA, NY.

listing of all 13 locations of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau Cooperative Association that handled Co-op and Cockshutt Farm Equipment.

1952 listing of the home office headquarters of all 12 or so of the state Farmer Cooperatives in the USA that were the owners of the National Farm Equipment Co-op Association. In late '52 when the National Farm Equip. Co-op ceased operations, most of the Farmer Cooperative stores continued to handle the Co-op..now Cockshutt line.

Our PA State organization and our local store, located in Lebanon, PA, handled the Cockshutt line until 1958. At that time Cockshutt appointed Frick & Co, Waynesboro ,PA as the offical distributor for PA. This lasted until 1962

If you want to start a list,Percy Knight sold them in Stanton Michigan. His son's sell used cars out of the same location to this day.

Farmers Union Co-op in Kulm, N. Dak. sold a lot of Co-op tractors and equipment. My dad bought an E-3 wide front in 1948 and was given a toy model which I still have (but worse for wear). My uncle bought a new SP112 combine in 1951 and the Managers son begged to deliver it out to the farm (10 miles) so he could see my sister! They later were married and have celebrated 65 years together

From the cover of my Co-op plow manual, printed in Canada, Indiana Farm Bureau Coop., Indianapolis, Indiana, Farm Bureau Coop., Columbus, Ohio, Farm Bureau Services Inc. Lansing, Michigan, Consumers Coop. Assoc. Kansas City, Missouri, farmers Union Central Exchange ST. Paul, Minnesota, Farmers Union State Exchange Omaha, Nebraska, Pennsylvania Farm Bureau Coop. Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Farmers Coop. Exchange Raleigh, North Carolina, Midland Coop. Wholesale Minneapolis, Minnesota, Central Coop. Wholesale Superior, Wisconsin, Pacific Supply Coop. Walla Walla, Washington, Consumers Coop. Associated Amarillo, Texas, Canadian Coop. Implements Limited Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon, Calgary, Edmonton. I assume these were all distributors with dealer networks. Also cockshut tractors were sold under the Farmcrest name by Gambles stores for a short time, I have one.

I believe Porter County Coop in Valparaiso, Indiana was a Coop/Cockshutt dealer. Later they handled Oliver and Massey Ferguson. Not sure of the dates or of any overlaps.

Had an aunt and uncle who lived in NY Mills, drove by the building lots of times. Cockshutt was painted on the side of the bldg. Building is gone now... My son has two Cocksutt 30s a 40 and a 50 Lives in Wisconsin

Thanks for the responses...Keep them coming...Its been over 50 years since there was a Cockshutt
dealer in the US so lots have been long forgotten..The MM and IH collectors have old dealer lists so
why not Cockshutt..Below is a link to the IH one..

There used to be an old fellow in Dover-Foxcroft Maine I'd call and get parts from he was a Cockshutt dealer at one time and had a lot of NOS parts unfortunately his place burned down
about 25 years ago.Don't remember the name of the dealership.

Starke County Farm Bureau Co-op in Hamlet, Indiana was a dealer, my late father bought 3 tractors there over the years, the family still owns the 35 Blackhawk he bought in 1956

Another one here in Michigan in the 50s and 60s was
Hugh Long Farm Equiptment
Rockford, Mi.
Before that in the late 40s, that sold CO-OPs
Powells Feed Mill
Rockford, Mi.
Also, I remember Cronkite's Gamble store sold a Farm Crest in
Cedar Springs, in the early 50s.

Walter T Watts [my wife's great grandfather] sold Cockshutts in Blenhiem Ontario just as the 30 and 40 tractors were being introduced. Tye farm equipment was in Thorndale. Barney Tye had a falling out with Cocshutt and switched to David Brown in the early 60's but there was a Cockshutt 35 around the shop until they closed in the 80's.

Greene county also clay county Indiana both sole co=op and in 1956 was cockshutt. Same tractor just Cockshutt stopped painting orange..

Hi Traditional Farmer,

The Dover Foxcraft, Maine dealer was Raymond Harvey. I met Raymond there many times in there past and purchased NOS parts from him.

The business is still operatng. I have shipped COCKSHUTT parts to them since Raymond passed away. A relative (I believe) that was one of his employees in now running the busines.
