Psb pump question

This is on a cockshutt 570 if that matters. What is behind this little hex head I'm touching? Fuel runs out of it pretty good while running. I'm hoping it's as simple as backing it out, put new o ring on and go, but that's not how my luck goes.

That's the delivery valve plug, only used on the taller reduced volume heads. Military pumps have the same style valve location. The shorter, more common PSB heads have the valve in the top center of the head, sealed with a copper gasket. What you have uses NO gasket, and can be a bear to stop leaks as it's finely machined on both the head AND plug. First try loosening it one turn, blow it really clean, then remove the plug. Be careful not to loose the small spring inside under the plug. If the plug has no cracks, just clean it well and the head at the tapered plug seating area. Replace the plug and spring, torque the plug to 45 FT/LBS, loosen and repeat three or four times. If you are lucky, it MIGHT stop the leak. I have used a copper washer before as a last resort, but don't recommend that..
