Mist green question

I have been catching up my recorded tractor shows and watched classic tractor fever featuring Oliver's. I am a big Oliver fan. Have 4. Anyway they mentioned the mist green was used to introduce a model change. I thought I had read in Oliver heritage that the color was a scheme to make the tractors "look bigger in the field" when they were competing with the 460/560 farmalls ? Anybody know for sure ?

Gee my boss back in 1960 who worked in the Charles City engineering department said it was to distinguish between a 770 & the 880

J Schwiebert, After rereading Blaine's post it was exactly as you stated to distinguish between a 770 or 880. Sorry about that!

I think the model change you are referring to is the introduction on the helical gear transmission on the 880's. It was at the start of this transmission where the mist greens started. I believe this all started at serial # 73639.
