Oliver 1850 and IH 710 plow

I hooked up dads plow to my 1850. It has a one way cylinder on the tail wheel. When I lower the rear of the plow it comes back up. So I turned the bypass out that's behind my right heel then the 3-point doesn't raise. Am I turning the wrong valve? I thought there was a way to run the 3-point and a one way cylinder at the same time...

Turn bypass valve back in so three point works, then put another hose on tail wheel cylinder to make it double acting. That system will not run single acting cylinder and three point at same time.Scott

ang it... Okay, thanks. Maybe I can dig up a different cylinder.

Something I'm still thinking would work, although I never tried it. How about if you run a hose from the other coupler back in to the plug where the return hose goes for the power beyond? That would let the system direct the down pressure oil somewhere while letting the cylinder back down.

Does the 1850 have bleed screws like a 1550? It must be opened three turns for a single acting cylinder and connected to the right side remote. Not familiar with 1850s, just trying to help.

My woods ditch bank mower can run single or double...the book on it explains how to
do it...the book on the IH should give the instructions and it could be a little more
than just removing the plug at the other end and attaching a line.

rrlund, I bet it would... I could rig up a coupler on that return port and fix up a short hose with male ends. My brother stopped to help me and what followed was a comedy of errors! We changed the cylinder but the hoses were too short. Brother wants removable extensions... Okay, no big deal right? We found a couple of short hoses to use for extensions...Two ends were 9/16 with o-rings...Dig for fittings...Dads old 915 combine has some of those...Hydraulic oil everywhere...two ends have 1/2 pipe threads...Dig for fittings...Dig for thread tape...Plug in "new" hoses...Touch hydraulic lever..."New" hose explodes ALL OVER my pretty tractor and myself...Brother says "Why was that hose hanging in the shed? I gotta go home, good luck." I found another hose. Put in on with pipe fittings. Everything works well. Put gas in the tractor...Thunderstorm drowns all dreams of glory plowing ONE ACRE! The things we do for fun!!!
