Tractor has no oil pressure with a manual gauge or electric gauge. Unknown history, engine runs quiet, no knocks or rattles. Where is the pressure relief valve for the oil pump? Any suggestions?

The oil pressure relief valve is on the right front of the engine as you sit in the seat. It will be in front of the generator or alternator, on the side of the engine block where it has the "bump" on the front of the block next to the front cover. It will be a hex shaped plug, low profile, can't remember off hand but I think it is 7/8 or 15/16". There will be a spring in there, and a little metal cup style "piston". You can use a strong magnet to pull it out if it isn't stuck. BUT FIRST, remove the oil pressure tube from the fitting on the RH rear of the block, then remove the fitting from the block. First park it where you can make a mess before you remove the oil pressure fittings. Start it up, it should shoot a pretty good stream of oil. If it will do that at least, that's a good sign. Make sure the fitting that screws into the block is clear, then try to spray brake cleaner through the oil pressure line. A lot of times that oil pressure line will plug up somewhere in the middle.

IF your tractor has an oil filter with an aluminum base, take the filter off and see if the stem is loose. There is a restrictor disk under there that restricts the oil causing the oil pressure to raise. Solution to that problem is get a cast iron filter base. questions?
