I sold a set of pistons and sleeves that I bought back in 2002 that were for a 1750/1755 gas 283 engine. He went to put them in and said that they are different than what he took out, but the engine was apart on a pallet so I can't say what everything was either. From what he is saying is the compression height is different. His machine shop is telling him they are diesel pistons though, which I know they are not because they have the wrong bowl on them. The biggest thing I'm trying to figure out is another thing that the machine shop is telling him about the connecting rods, both a 283 and a 310 use the same rods, which I don't believe, but have never held a 283 rod in my hands either. The number on the rod is 221407, which my book says its a 310 rod. Are they a different length? If so that could explain it. Thanks for any help.
