1800B Hydra Power

I am befuddled with my 1800 Hydra Power. First, the oil is full and is the appropriate fluid. Second, it is noisy in direct drive. As you drive it, the hydra power works normally when it is cold. It engages and disengages, but as it gets warmer, I notice that it appears to slip in direct...a definite slowing. You pull it to Hydra Power and it seems to operate as it would. When you touch the unit it is too hot to keep your hand on it. There is no smell or smoke. It is just hot.
I am not sure if I am dealing with a hydra power issue or a clutch issue or a combination of the two.

Thoughts?

Am I better off to take the hydra power out and rebuild it or buy one from a used unit? Are the costs similar?
