ok so after getting on tonight and reading traditional farmers post it confirmed what I was thinking to ..dad has a long 550 and this is almost to a t the same tractor..perhaps a diff engine but trans and pto and handbrake setup along with the hood but not the grill and different fenders...the good..started up quick when pulled did smoke some blue at the beginning but cleared up...has one cyl not quite right as was missing intermitantly...not terrible but noticeable...pwr steering works great all gears good clutch not to bad but does slip when in high gear and brakes applied...loader action is fast and has a separate pto pump that runs it..with the pto stub shaft still open for use..it must slide over the shaft and is bolted to the housing?...don't know but loader doesn't work if pto is off...3pt hitch will raise if no load but if a guy is holding it down it wont go up..but once up it will hold said guy at that stopping point so I don't know what to think there...hyd fluid coming out of the remote is very milky so could be fluid and a filter fix or something worse...so that's what I have to report and am on the fence about it...thanks for listening

That separate pump runs off the PTO. The hydraulic fluid has moisture in it. Did you check for clutch free travel? Does it have a remote valve to run a cylinder? If so does it work? Our customers always though they were good on fuel.

there is no free travel at all and yes the remote would leak a little when the lever was pushed but didn't have anything hooked up to it...the fact that the steering worked really well makes me think the pump is ok but just something perhaps in the valve body not working right or perhaps just the fluid and filter change...the 550 we use is very good on fuel but isn't as nimble as some other 50hp tractors I have used but not the prices those tractors command either...my concern is what I will have in it when im done versus paying a little more for a "turn key" ready tractor and not have to work on it...thanks as always for your knowledge and willingness to share it..its always a pleasure talking with you

Deene, the power steering runs off of it's own pump. Tank is under the hood up front. If hyd fluid is milky that could affect the 3 point hitch. Not much money to replace the filter and fluid. Filter is on the right side just ahead of the running board. All fixed and you will wonder how you got by without it.

Sounds about like my 2WD 1365 when I bought it,my 3pt wouldn't come up any. What I did was get the tractor running added a can of Seafoam to the transmission and drove it around a while to get things mixed up then pulled the drain plugs.Took the cover off the filter screen housing and throughly washed the screen clean with carb cleaner. When replacing the screen cover make sure you have a good O ring that fits as a seal there is critical.I put in new trans fluid and the lift started working fine.Be sure to keep the fluid lever at least at the full mark and a little over is better in my opinion. As far as the engine missing a little I'd add some Seafoam and a can of Marvel Mystery oil to the fuel usually that clears them up for me.Also never run the tractor
with the PTO clutch lever in the "UP" position just use it to shift the PTO lever as leaving it up will result in damage to the thrust washers and then the engine and block.
Ebay has lots of parts for the 1365 and several other suppliers are around too.

I thought that miss was normal? Mine does it when it's not under load. Even if the pump for the remotes and 3pt turns out to be bad, don't worry about it. I put a new pump on mine in June. The pump, filter screen, drive hub,o-rings and gaskets came to a whopping grand total of $205 with shipping.
