Oliver 550 diesel starter work in oliver 77

I have a Oliver 77 gas model on 12 volts and was wondering if a oliver 550 diesel starter will work in the oliver 77.

Count the number of teeth on the drive gears on both starters. What is the problem with your 77 starter?

They are both 10 teeth, I had the starter rebuilt two years ago and have used the starter very little. It is no longer working, I believe the starter shop called it a rebuild but just cleaned it.
