I have a fellow interested in my grandfather's 28-50. He will roll over in his grave if I ever give his old tractors away so the question is what is a price to ask?

Pics worth a lot. Id want it to go to someone that really into them and give it a good home for years. Id love to have
one myself.

I see the frame says sold in Edmonton, I live not to far from there and would definetly be interested in buying it. Please send me an email. Thanks

If you look at my other thread you can see that someone had seen 2 sell last year for 6500. They were not restored and had little to no original paint. 1000 seems pretty low. However I still appreciate the feedback.

By the photos I would say that the $6500 range is fair. There are a bunch of unknowns with this tractor. Looks like a good solid unit to start with. Now how long has it been sitting outside? Where has water gotten into and started to cause problems? (transmission, crankcase, lubricator, magneto, who knows what else) Could be a costly refurbish. Just don't know until one tears into it. Hope you find a great home for it. They are sweet running tractors with plenty of power for the physical size.

I'm curious about the other one. Do you have a picture of that one? The HP values are somewhat difficult to predict. I can tell you I bought 3 nearly complete Hart Parrs and 1 parts one for less than what many say one is worth alone. They were sitting in the same spot for 70+ years and required many hours with chainsaws, shovels and a metal detector to get the tractors out and all the pieces located and rescued. Sitting outside is very hard on the lubricator, magneto and the motor itself if water finds its way inside. All that being said, the price really comes down to what people that are willing to go through the trouble are willing to pay. That pair that sold for $6500 each, one was complete and running. The other was complete, motor was loose and it had all new sheetmetal. Fenders, fuel tank, etc. I think that was a fair price on them for today's soft tractor market. I would say your grandfather's 28-50 would be worth less than that, but how much? Difficult to say. What it has going for it is it appears complete and looks like someone gave it some love in let's say the last 20-30 years. The paint alone indicates that. But, it also has obviously been sitting outside, untouched for many years. There will likely be significant amounts of time and money to get it running and or restored. I hope this helps in your pricing dilemma. Please post pics of the other one too. I just love these old Hart Parrs!!!

I was reading my great grandmothers 1910 diary and in it she mentions that a neighbor, Medcalf, is plowing with his Hart Parr. At the time they lived in the Rural Municipality of St. Francois Xavier, Manitoba. Would this type of tractor been rare for the area at that time? Interestingly, the location where they lived is around 50 miles, 80km, from where the pictured tractor is located in the Rural Municipality of St. Andrews. It makes me wonder if this could be the same one?
Thank you for your help.
