R, Lund, The original 599 tractors were known as the 20A series. First serial number was 100 001. The later tractors were known as the2-OC series and start at serial number 101500 and up. There are no gas tractors in this group. The 8 bolt rear wheels are only listed for the 2-OC series. Does that help. Does that help?

I knew none of the 2-OC series were gas yes. Is that when the switch was made to standard bolts then,at 101500? The one in the picture is a diesel. The ad said no emails or texts and I don't want to harass him with phone calls to find out if he knows the serial number if I can help it. Didn't the OCs have more of a block decal though, absent the checkerboard background? This one looks to be a checkerboard background, but the number 500 is down on the side more like a 600 would be. For the price,I hate to pass it up. It said something like "ran when parked" or some such thing, but I said I'd never take on another one as rough as the one I just finished. If it was one that would be easier to work on,it might sway my decision.

Production of 6 bolt front hubs started in April of 1962. However it is kind of like 57 Oliver's and 12 volt key start. The 55's got it in January, the 88's in April I think. The 66 @ 77 were in between.

See what I said in the other post about the parts book saying the other front axle starting at 101775.

Hi J in the UK David Brown intruduced the modified 850 tractors in 1961 and gave them the designation 850c for livedrive and 850d for standard drive. The modified tractors used 8 stud rear wheels and 2 speed PTO units. They had a fabricater front axle from April 1962 like the 600 tractors but the batteries remained each side the seat and the had a mixture of BSF and UNC/UNF bolts. MJ

MJ, good to hear from you. Acording to the service bulletin issued by Oliver the fabricated front axle started at serial number 101775
