Oliver 77 industsial

Looking at a Oliver 77 industrial and was wondering how fast the road gear is in it.Do all the gear speeds match close to the 77 standard?

77 Standard has 3.44:1 pinion to ring gear ratio.   77 Industrial has 4.16:1 ratio.

At rated engine speed travel speeds are:

Industrial 1200x24" tire
5th 10.11 MPH
6th 17.60 MPH.

Standard 13.6 x 26" tire
5th 7.10 MPH
6th 12.37 MPH.   There are only two gears in the transmission that are different, however to install them it requires a complete teardown of the tractor (they are on the pinion shaft).

I assume that you are looking for something for tractor rides, Take the rear end off of a Row Crop, then marry the Industrial rear end to the front frame of the Row Crop, install the axle/housing from the Row Crop and the 38" rear rubber and you have a 22 /23 MPH ride @ rated engine RPM.

I have a 77 Standard (higher speed ring and pinion) with the Industrial gears, 16.9x26' tires and a 1650 engine, hang onto your hat, it's 30 MPH on my GPS Garmin all day long, hills do not bother it!   I installed all new tie rod ends and all new crosses in the steering joints.

Thanks BA. That is the info I needed.Thinking of taking the industrial on a tractor ride and was wondering if I could keep up with a 12-15 mph pace. Thanks again for the info

Just my opinion but please don't tear apart a 77 industrial to make a race tractor they are a pretty rare piece I'll rescue it and trade you a 17 mph standard for it !!!
