The pto clutch housing inside splined hub was split at the splines, and the piston was split at it's inside hub. The clutch plates & separator plates were shot. Maibach had salvage hsg. & piston ($$$$) aftermarket clutch plates & agco separator plates. When we first pulled the pto out we heard a metallic clunk & realized the stake nut that goes on the rear-end of the hyd. pump hollow drive shaft had unscrewed itself & had been going round & round on the pto drive shaft. That shaft runs pretty close to the ring gear & the nut didn't even look like a nut ! There was a handful of shavings at bottom of housing. Tag on 8.3 cummins (conversion) says 210 h.p. ! Gonna turn her down to about 150 !!

I'm with oliverplow on this one, you turn that 8.3 down and you're likely to end up with less power than you had before you started. If by chance you're lucky and have one of the later 2-155's, you have the heavy duty 3spd used in the 2-180 and 4-225, and you already have the rear end and final drive used in both. No reason why a 2-155, or a 2-135 for that matter, can't carry 210 engine HP for a long long time. Now fuel use....
