help with Govenor for cockshutt 40

When the Cocoksutt 40 was purchased it had a cracked block. The engine was replaced with a G262 Gleaner motor. The trouble we are having is with the throttle linkage. We had help from a Cockshutt Tractor owner that told us the Govoner was bad and needed to be replaced with an AC D19 Govoner. We could use some help in the form of pictures to see what needs to be changed. There was a forum on here from 2008 about this and I emailed the person that answered but didn't get a response. My husband had a Heart episode and is unable to finish the tractor. My Grandsons wants to help him by finishing the tractor. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you swap the front cover from the old Buda engine that was in the 40? I had a 262 in my 40. I used the Buda timing cover.

Gary is correct to use the original Cockshutt front engine cover............and the 40/50 governor housing and complete assy. A D-19 gas governor may be hard to find. Do not use the original governor if your G-262 came out of a Gleaner combine. The governor on a combine operates in reverse of a tractor governor.

If needed, we can mail you any information that you and your family may need. We also have parts available, on stock here.

To change the governor you need to install the Cockshutt front plates which means the cam shaft has to come out.To get that out you need to loosen the rocker assembly to free up the lifters, flip the motor over on an engine stand, guess it could be done without taking the oil pan off but I always take it off to see whats going on inside the block.Be sure to check the timing marks
before you pull the cam I've seen cam gears that had timing marks 180 degrees out from one another.
