Here's the 500

I just put the decals on. I guess it's good enough for who it's for. I need to get the right seat cushions for it and find a drawbar that I didn't make myself, but it's going to a few shows the way it is. I doubt enough people have ever seen one to know the difference on that drawbar anyway. Same deal on the headlights. Those aren't correct, but close enough for now. I'm not proud of that grill. I wish somebody who had the skills to do it right would have straightened it and made it right, but it didn't work out that way.

You should have put up a before picture too so everyone could see how much work you put into it.

Ok,you asked for it. Here's how it looked when I found it out behind a mobile home in the middle of nowhere.

Its looks real nice the way you did it. The way I figure if you make it perfect that just makes you that more mad when you scratch it. What you started with is pretty much the same condition mine is in, but mine needs some engine work as well.

This one was running on three when I got it. First thing I did when I got it home was take the tappet cover off. One push rod wasn't moving. I took the side cover off and it was sitting a ledge inside the block instead of being in the lifter. I loosened everything up,put it in,tightened everything down, adjusted it and started it up. It ran like a dream. That was the only mechanical problem I had with it.

Super nice!

I hope I can do mine nearly as well.

The badge in the hood was missing from the "as found" picture but you have one in the restored picture. Did you make a new one or find a NOS one somewhere?

It's a David Brown badge with a left over Oliver decal on it. I just painted it black. The decal should have been a little bigger.

Yes I do! One of those would be the only one I'd ever tackle again if it was as rough as the 500 was. Any other model from now on had better be in pretty good shape when it comes in the yard. I'm not putting my hand on that hot stove again unless the reward is pretty substantial. lol

Things really change with tractors 40 years ago it wasn't unusual to see those in tobacco fields in Southern VA and NC,think I owned 6 of the Super 44 and 440s over the years.
