Oliver 77 3 point hitch differences

A little background, I have a 1951 Oliver 77 row crop with the wide front end. It was my fathers and grandfathers tractor and I have it now that they have both passed away. I would like to keep using it and not let it sit too much. I am not on the family farm and my sister who is running the family farm doesn't need it. (they have a 1963 Oliver 770 for smaller work and a big 2007 MF 120hp tractor for the large stuff). I have two acres and have a little John Deere 2320 diesel that I use for all of my needs. Because I do have that little tractor I also have a PTO generator and a PTO wood chipper that would be nice to run on the Oliver to make it work some and keep it in use. I also have a 3pt blade that it might make some use of (I got it when I got the tractor so it is kind of big for my little John Deere).

OK a lot of history I know but now you can see where I am coming from and my needs.
When I look at putting a 3pt hitch on the Oliver 77 to retrofit on the tractor I can find a few different places selling them. they seem broken up into either costing $650 or $1350. My question, is there a real difference between the 2 different price point hitches? I have seen a more expensive version that takes two hydraulic cylinders but those seem to cost in the $1800 range(which I don't think I need that much lift). I don't mind paying for a better product, I just don't want to pay double for nothing.

I would guess you could find a factory one for $500-$1000 if you watch eBay, yt ads and a few Facebook sites.
Do you have factory hydraulics?

The 3 points I have found all seem to be factory, are you thinking that they may be cheap copies?

I do not have factory hydraulics but I was just going to install a belt driven small pump to work the cylinder. I wasn't worried about having hydraulics to power anything else.

A valve with float is a very good idea, I had forgot about that.

I would want a factory Oliver one if it was mine..I have a couple with after market that work fine too. Oliver ones are more desirable. Get in touch with J and he can point you in the right direction.

I would stay away from the 3 point hitches that mount to the axle housings and go only with one that mounts in the same places as the original hitch mounts.

I don't have an email address for you and the board won't let me send PMs.

The hitch I was looking at is the one here on yesterday's tractors which looks to bolt to the standard places.

I have not had a lot of luck finding a factory hitch.

I really appreciate all of the help that everyone is giving me. Thank you.

Yes that is a good one and by simply removing a pin it has float ability. You should a factory hydraulic unit. there are a few out there that have been removed for tractor pulling, the newer ones with the top levers are best. You can go on face book and join Oliver tractor pullers and several other Oliver groups and look there for a unit. Good luck, Chuck

Saw this hitch in the YT classifieds. Thought you might want it.
