A little background, I have a 1951 Oliver 77 row crop with the wide front end. It was my fathers and grandfathers tractor and I have it now that they have both passed away. I would like to keep using it and not let it sit too much. I am not on the family farm and my sister who is running the family farm doesn't need it. (they have a 1963 Oliver 770 for smaller work and a big 2007 MF 120hp tractor for the large stuff). I have two acres and have a little John Deere 2320 diesel that I use for all of my needs. Because I do have that little tractor I also have a PTO generator and a PTO wood chipper that would be nice to run on the Oliver to make it work some and keep it in use. I also have a 3pt blade that it might make some use of (I got it when I got the tractor so it is kind of big for my little John Deere).
OK a lot of history I know but now you can see where I am coming from and my needs.
When I look at putting a 3pt hitch on the Oliver 77 to retrofit on the tractor I can find a few different places selling them. they seem broken up into either costing $650 or $1350. My question, is there a real difference between the 2 different price point hitches? I have seen a more expensive version that takes two hydraulic cylinders but those seem to cost in the $1800 range(which I don't think I need that much lift). I don't mind paying for a better product, I just don't want to pay double for nothing.
