Double Bevel Rims Followup Question

I've got the double-bevel rims home and noticed that they have two bumps on each bevel, which I suppose would line up with something in the wheel center. The 88 cast centers have a slot cutout for the corresponding "plate" on the rim. Unless I'm missing something, I assume that I have to grind out openings in the cast centers for these bumps on the double bevel rim to fit into?

Sounds like you have the wrong application. At least the double bevels I have are not the same as Oliver in which I can't remember what they're called. Been a long day.

On my IH tractors, those bumps line up with two of the locks that hold the rims on, so the don't slip. I will have to look at my Oliver 1650
tomorrow to see if it is like that. I have never had a rim off of it.

Mine take an 8 dimple..if there is away to put double bevels on I would be interested as they're easier to come by.

Both my 88 and 1650 have a large slot in the cast centers that correspond to a plate on the rim. I was under the impression that a double bevel could work on the Oliver cast centers, but now I'm not too sure.

I had found some good tires on double bevel rims that I want to use on my 88, but now it appears that I will either have to modify the cast centers or pay to swap the tires onto the 88 rims and sell the double bevels.

I'd have to go out and look, but I don't think I lined them up. I have one off a Deere on my 1600 and one from an IH on my 1550. I just knocked it on past the first ridge then put the blocks on right where it sat if memory serves me right. I'll check when I go out to grind feed.

Thanks for checking. Would there be different styles of Oliver cast centers? I just don't see how the raised bumps on the bevels (on the double bevel rims) would fit on the cast centers. The double bevel rims came from a JD 60.

Pics would be great if you can. I have some double bevels I would like to use too.

I believe the double bevel rims worked correctly on the late 50 and 55 series tractors cast iron centers. I have them on my 2150 and used to have them on my 1650 until I went to pressed steel for pulling.

Yep, just put 2 rear double bevels on my 450 IH tonight, had to make sure I had the 2 clamps in between the humps of those 2 sets of raised crosswise portions.

Ok,sorry about the wait. I got busy working on the 500 and forgot about it.
This is what we're talking about isn't it? This is an IH rim. The Deere rim on the 1600 looks the same. I just drove them past the cast center then put the clamps on the outside bevel.

Thanks for the photos. I'll have to check my cast centers...yours appear to have some beveling on the center between the clamps to allow space for the bumps/drivers on the double bevel rims to fit without making the rim sit cock-eyed on the center.

I don't know. These are the 13 bolt wheels, but the 1600 has the 9 bolts on it. I've got a double bevel on that one too.
