PTO input shaft

When I say PTO input shaft I am referring to the long shaft from the pto to the motor. Not sure if that is the right term or not.

Okay here is my issue , We replaced the PTO clutches in one of our 1750's. We had a heck of a time getting the input shaft out. After trying all the tricks ended up pulling the unit out with it in. was a pain but got it done. So when we went to put it together I did not like the looks of the splines on the shaft that went to the motor so ordered a new shaft. The new shaft went in no problem but once I put the o-ring in and then pushed the spacer in behind it the spacer pushed the shaft forward and the spacer is going past the o-ring. ????

The shaft is the same length as the old shaft and the shaft length matches up with our serial number. (according to Maibach's there are two lengths)

It measure like the shaft is going in about 3/4 inch to far.

Any one have a clue?

No o-ring in second groove. Looking from the back end

Something to note the old shaft splines were rolled just on the last half were it goes on the hub. Almost like it was not fully in the hub.

Here is the picture of the old shaft I have pulled out.

a few years ago I replaced the hub with a used one, is there a chance the one that I put in was the wrong one and that is what has caused the issue ?

Just wanted to follow up on this post. With help from Maibach's . they determined that I had the wrong plug behind the shaft there was two different lengths and I had the shorter of the two but needed the longer one. I have no idea how this got changed out, makes me wonder if it was wrong from the get go from factory. Either way all is back together now.
