Does anyone know the name of the Oliver dealer that was in New York Mills, NY? Tractors would have been shipped there from Charles City back in the day. Thanks in advance.

Oliver had a sub-branch in New York Mills, NY. It later became a full branch where they warehoused Oliver equipment and parts. When a dealer in upper New England and eastern Canada need something it was quicker to ship it out of the nearby branch, instead of from the factory.

If you have a build card and it says New York Mills, NY. It means it went through that warehouse. I don't think there was an Oliver dealer in that town.

How about a Cockshutt warehouse there? I had an aunt an uncle who lived on Elm St. Seem to remember a large building there that said Cockshutt on the side. That would have been back in the mid 1950s

Oliver had a warehouse in NY Mills. We picked up machinery there quite a few times. I believe Clinton Tractor sold Oliver back in the day. They are just a few miles away from the warehouse. Clinton Tractor is still in business, but I don't think they have anything to do with Oliver/White stuff anymore. They have a website.

Hi 770,

Cockshutt had a factory branch depot in New York mills NY.

We have photos from the 1955-1958 period. I believe it was there at least starting in the early 50's.

I do not believe that it remained open under the Oliver take over of Cockshutt in 1962
