Oliver 77 Pulling Engine Build

I'm just finishing up an Oliver 77 engine rebuild, to do some pulling with, started with stock 216ci Super 77 gas engine, installed (shaved) 1550 head, manifold and exhaust. Engine started and ran great prior work, now am have great difficult getting the engine to start and run. There is spark and engine does start, spits and sputters and then quits. It almost seams the motor isn't getting enough fuel, I drained the tank and cleaned the sediment bowl, am running 93 Octane gas. I'm just using the stock carb for now planning on purchasing a 1550 carb. Would it be the carb that is causing the issues, I would have thought that carb would at least get the motor running at idle.............any suggestions?

I pulled the fuel line at the carb and steady stream of fuel coming to the carb, haven't checked at the actual carb as yet. Maybe I should consider installing an electric fuel pump, although again I don't understand why it worked fine without prior to the build.

Is the distributor drive in right and firing order correct. Need to see where rotor is pointing on tdc number 1.

well I'm being to wonder, it's a brand new Intake manifold from Korves, however I suppose anything is possible. I may end up taking the manifolds off again off and checking it. You wouldn't happen to know if I'm suppose to torque down those nuts down that hold the exhaust and intake manifold onto the block?

Yes and make sure the 4 cap screws holding the intake and exhaust are loose enough to give. Start in the middle and work out 35 foot pounds should be fine with out looking it up. I also send you an e-mail. Did you receive it? J.
