Hello i Am trying to replace the front wheel seals on a oliver 77. the seal seats hits the wear ring long before the bearing cup seats in the race. It would seem like the seals are to thick or else the inner
bearing race should have a spacer behind it. from the face of the hub to where the bearing race seats is about 2 in. And from the face of the hub to where the base of the seal seats is about 0.87 in. Has
anybody else had this issue. here is a link to a similar question. http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=oliver&th=176512

thanks

Where did you get your replacement seals and are there any numbers from the old seals?

I got the seals from obrien country implement. I don't have numbers from old seals as they were very deteriorated. I asked korves oliver
To measure a seal that they had and it was the same.

O. K. Take one of the hubs without the seal in it and then slide it on the spindle and see if bearing cup will slide on the race. Let us know if it does.

Here are some pics... The picture of mounted hub has seal in and the other does not. I think maybe what happened is the bearing was slipping on the spindle and wore the seating surface back. Currently i have almost 3/16 in. till the bearing seats. Does anyone know how compressed the seal should be? Thanks

How do you attach photos to the post? I tried the UPLOAD PHOTOS/VIDEOS at bottom of posting page, but something didn't work. thanks

OK. For anybody else that reads this and has the same problem. the inside bearing was spinning on the spindle and wore into the seating surface. i had to make a spacer to bring it out again.
