Coop Tractors......?

Hello guys, Im trying to figure out which Coop tractor my Grandpa use to farm with...maybe find one for my next "restore project". I was told that he owned this tractor in the late 40's to early 50's.....then later sold it. It was a Coop tractor - wide front-end; maybe a E-30? Anyone have pics of a unit like this or can help me pin this down? Thanks for your help.

Co-op started getting tractors from Cockshutt Plow Co. in 1946. They were the same tractors as the Cockshutt tractors only Co-op labeled them as E-2, E-3, E-4 and E-5 and were sold by the Farm Bureau Co-op in the US until 1953 or 1954.

good to know; wanting to find pics of E-30 with wide front- if they made them? My Aunt says they did.....thanks,

You buy a Cockshutt 30, buy the "Coop" nose strip, and you paint the thing orange. That's what everybody else does.
Just remember to have deep pockets. While easily available, the overhaul kits for the Buda 4B153 are not cheap.

Copy these links into your browser to download scanned copies of original COOP and Cockshutt literature and Buda engine manual. Cockshutt 30s were also sold by the Gambles department stores as the Farmcrest 30 and a Canadian COOP as CCIL.

My son found 4 of them on a farm in Central Wisconsin I have this one, engine was set up. One was scrap and he still has 2 of them at his place in Wi. Also had an Oliver 88 on the same farm. Guy wanted $80 a piece for Cockshutts and $100 for the Oliver because it was a better tractor. It sure was, he had it running within a week after bringing it home. If we had your location, maybe someone knows of one near you.
1947 Coop E3 Mine.

that's a "cockshutt" correct? I mean not sold to coop? I have a pic of of grandpa using his in the field ; but cant make the model- kinda weird looking; I don't know how to get it on here. Kc If I could have your email I can send you the pic? Thanks.

now that is nice! I would take an "Oliver 77-88" or a Cockshutt-Coop.....that price is great - may not find that today! Thanks! Pratt, Kansas

Hello- my grandpas tractor!

The different decal may simply be due to the same model being marketed by different companies, or in that case, a farmer's union. The tractors themselves match.

Cockshutt only built the E2 through E5 tractors for Co-op, which were simply rebadged and repainted Cockshutts. The Co-op numbers 1, 2, and 3 were built on their own, no Cockshutt involvement.

"model 3" works, but its more commonly known as a No. 3. There's a bit of history about the Co-op brand on Tractor Data. But yes, US-built by Co-op themselves, with some Chrysler components, such as engine.

ok thanks very much...I think we are getting close; would you have a pic of a "Coop #2" ? Might be the one. Thanks.

No problem. I don't have a picture of a No. 2 kicking around, but there's a few on google. Do a google image search, and they should show up.

OK, I can't help you with the early ones. Everything I have is for Cockshtt-built models. I have seen a few of those around here. Can't remember who built them but they had Chrysler engines.

According to the pics; my grandpas tractor "appears" to be a "Co-op no 3", even though the decal is different than the restored one on here. The vertical lines in the hood are the same as a no 3- the no 2 does not have that. Thanks for your help.
