Cockshutt 540 3 point hitch/hydraulics

Looking for help with problem on recently acquired Cockshutt 540. The lift travel of the 3 pt. hitch draw links is inadequate for use. Vertical travel of the lifting rods is only 7 1/2 inches, with a maximum lift cylinder travel of 5 inches (this appears to be less than the cylinder is capable of). Another indication of problem is the control quadrant lever; for a travel of approximately 8 inches only the front half gives response. oil level is at proper level per fill plug dipstick and "draft control link" is at service manual specified length of 13 3/4 inches.
Can anyone advise the stroke of the lift cylinder and offer suggestions on how to rectify my problem.

Ok. I just went out and measured my 1958 540, and the rod fully extended measures 8.5 inches. The linkage in the second photo measures 5.5. this linkage shuts off the pressure at the top of the stroke. This is the linkage that runs from the arm coming out of the hydraulic box and hooks to the tap on the underside of the lift arm. Kind of a dark picture, but the end of it is behind the nut that you see, that goes to the lever that you control the three point.

Can you send me a picture of the 3 point fully down and one fully up. Also measure length of lift rods from center of pin to center of pin. Irv
