Got a 1755 not charging. We purchased this tractor a yr ago and knew it needed work. The alternator is not hooked up for some reason and the volt regulator appears to have been bypassed. I've got 4 wires coming to the front of the tractor just dangling. They are green, orange, brown and white. The green is hot at all times, white is lights and have no idea what the brown and orange wire are for. I've got a shop manual, it is rather confusing to figure out. The alternator has one terminal marked "batt". Why would the green wire be hot at all times? Exciter wire? Where do all the wires go? Cant I run a new wire from alt terminal to the gauge and clip all the rest except for the lights and be done? (I am thinking the alt has the built in regulator)
