i just picked up a row crop 77 from a guy i was talking to a fleet farm, got it home and got it running, but when i tighten down the distributor it runs rough, loose it runs great, i have a new set of points and condeser cap and rotor coming in today, is there anything else i should be looking at. it basically looses spark to the number 1 cylinder

most likely a crack in the cap somewhere, quite often impossible to see. cap and rotor should fix it.

There wasnt any cracks and a new cap and rotor didnt help, i took the distributer off and the gasket where it goes into the block was only half there, so when you would tighten it down it would pull down crooked, a new gasket and tightened it and it runs perfect
