Oliver 1365 - New to Tractor

Good afternoon all!

I recently purchased a 1365 Oliver, and am very "green" when it comes to working on this tractor (no pun intended). Just wondering how I go about checking the oil and hydraulic levels, and also what types of oil to use when re-filling. Lastly I seem to have a pretty good leak from the left (if sitting on seat) arm of my 3-point right below the seat. Just curious as to if anyone has fixed this issue before, or have any tips for me to fix. Thank you in advance for any help/tips given!

Engine dipstick is on the left side of the engine. Fill hole is in the top of the valve cover,on top of the engine. Transmission/rearend/hydraulic dipstick is between your legs just ahead of the seat,toward the right,right next to the parking brake lever. The fill hole for that is just ahead and to the left of the 4 speed and R shift. Just use a good hydraulic oil in that.

I seem to recall that there is something important about how you position the PTO activation levers when PTO is not in use- I don't remember how that went, but if you don't have them positioned correctly, it does serious damage. Maybe someone can come on and give you the skinny.

Oh yea,thanks for the reminder. If you want the PTO shut off,disengage the PTO clutch lever by pulling up on it. Shift the vertical lever just under and ahead of the seat to neutral,then let the PTO clutch lever back down against the transmission housing so the clutch is engaged.
If you leave it disengaged,it puts pressure on the engine thrust bearing and will eventually ruin the entire engine.
Bottom line,leave the PTO clutch engaged when not in use.

heck the little hose under the seat. Mine had a little hole and caused me all kinds of grief. As Randy says, they are a handy tractor. Do not ever run out of fuel. You will learn new words.

Thank you guys so far for the info! What do you guys use for your oil and hyrdaulics? I was going to go with a 15W40 for my oil, but no idea for hydraulics. Also, I am planning on buying a six foot King Kutter tiller for this tractor, will that work ok? Thanks again!

Any good diesel oil. Like I said,a good grade of hydraulic oil in the transmission/rearend/hydraulics. It should handle a 6 foot alright.

As said below: DO NOT run that sucker out of fuel. They are a nice tractor, but they are one of the hardest tractors ever built to get the air bled out of after you run them out of fuel. Don't ask us how we know this.......................................................
