Oliver 66 Diesel Fuel Tank

My Oliver 66 Diesel fuel tank sprung a leak at the water trap (trap rotted out). Is this tank unique to only the 66 Diesel? Any leads on a good
tank would be appreciated. I'm going to try to patch it for now.

A tank from a gasoline 66 should work, but you will need to install a fitting at the top front for the fuel return line. I don't know for sure if the gasoline tank had a water trap formed at the bottom.

I sent you an e-mail too, but if I remember right a 66 gas and an Oliver 60 take the same tank. I don't have my parts book handy. Let me know if you do or do not get my e-mail. J.

Keep the trap! Used to be farmers would drag those tanks in the shop in the winter time because they leaked. You then knew the trap was doing its job of catching the water but the farmer was not doing his job of draining the trap. Pump heads for 4 cylinders are hard to find and expensive!

We took the tank to a radiator shop...they cleaned it up in an acid bath (revealed more pinholes) and soldiered everything up. It should do the trick. Now I just need to be diligent about draining off the water!!
