Oliver 1800 gaser won't move

Think we got a hydro that went sour, gotta pull the audience for their knowledge. This tractor ran fine up to the point that it will not move. It was a sudden deal with no forewarning . While running, I can put it in gear, let the clutch out and will not move. While in neutral, the double chain that connects to the final drive does turn, but acts like it wouldn't take much to stop it, because you can see it slow down almost to a stop then speed up again, which tells me the pressures are not there in the hydro unit. Does this hyrdo unit rely on the clutch plates to power the unit or does its power source come from the long shaft that runs from the rear of the tractor all the way to the motor?. ...any and all responses would be welcome, and oh, all the fluid levels are were they need to be, and the PTO works like it should, so that tells me the shaft is not broke into 2 pieces. It also does not make a difference whether the hydro is in direct drive or not, this is a 2 speed hydro, not a 3 speed.

Is that a common thing with the clutch disc? If I remember right, that is a spline.
Also, if the hydro unit is hydraulically power sourced, what would make the double chain gear in the rear of the hydro unit act like it wants to stop, then speed up again all while idling ?...its not making sense to me yet. If the clutch is good, it should move regardless of the hydro, correct?...if the clutch is bad, the hydro should still act normal, correct?

Ok thanks. I'll pull it and see what it looks like, one more "to do" on the bucket list!

Same thing happened to my 2-135 a few years ago. I disked for a few hours, backed the disk up in the edge of the field and unhooked, drove out to the road and stopped for traffic, let the pedal up and it wouldn't move. Wouldn't even try to creep in low gear. That one's a button clutch. I pulled the engine, took the clutch to the dealer because it still had facing on it,wanted to know what the mechanic thought. There wasn't a lot of facing there, but some. He was as stumped as I was as to why it stopped all at once. I put a new clutch in it and that was all it took. I'm still shaking my head on that one. I never had one give up on me that sudden.

The fiber or ceramic on the steel disc. The part that runs against the flywheel and pressure plate. It's what wears away.

never worked on an oliver clutch, but I drove stick till I was about 50. The clutch
disengages...if bad makes shifting into gear almost impossible while running. You
should be able to put it in any gear you can start off from and run. If you can shift
it while running the clutch doesn't sound like the problem, the transmission/hydro
drive does.

I wonder if some linkage trowing the hydro from one to another is kicked you in
between. My drills have the same "hydro" drive...if the switch between hi and lo ends
up in between the drive won't drive.
