1950 steering problem

I have a 1950 that has the steering box replaced with a Char-Lynn
unit that has always worked great until today. I am using a Kuhn disc mower that I have to bump the hydraulic lever occasionally to keep the end of the bar down as this tractor does not have the float position on the levers, but that is not the issue. I feel every bump in the ground through the steering wheel, which has not happened before today. It is very hard to turn the wheel unless I hit one of the hydraulic levers. As long as I hold a lever even a little, it steers fine. It has plenty of fluid and the filter was recently changed.

Thanks, I'll check it out, figured it had to be a sticky valve or a broken spring. It has lived outside most of it's life and can cause moisture problems.
