My super 88 has 15-5 x 38 rear tires can I put 16.9x38 on it instead what will it do to the appearance thanks

It'll look like crap. You'll be driving down hill all the time. They might not even clear the fenders unless you set them out a ways. I've got 16.9s on my 2-105. I ran a pair of 15.5 duals against them this spring just to keep it afloat. Sitting on a hard surface the 15.5s didn't even touch the ground. The bulk of those tractors came out with 12x38s when they were new. That's the equivalent of a 13.6 now. I had one with the old 14x38s on it. Those even looked too big for it.

Not looking to argue with anyone, but I'll stick this in. When I bought my Super 88 it had 14.9-38's on the rear. After I put a loader on it, I eventually went ton 16.9-38's for more traction when bucketing manure piles. I also went 11L-15's on the front end. At that point that tractor would almost float on mud. Appearance wise, it might have been the bigger front tires, but I always thought it looked just fine, and I don't recall anyone else ever saying anything about the appearance. The closest thing to a fault of the change to me was that the larger circumference rear tires increased the ground speed about one gear over the original speed. On the road in sixth gear it made it doggy on hills. (The rears were loaded because of the bucket work.) For field work under load I ended up running one gear lower than with 14.9's. Bottom line, everyone has to come to their own decision.

Add-on to my previous post. You don't say what you use the tractor for. Going to larger tires only makes sense if it's a working tractor, and the work you do with it needs more traction. For example in my case with a front end loader I wanted more weight on the back end. If it's not a working tractor that needs something extra, it doesn't make sense. Leave well enough alone.

Your very likely to be able to go to the 13.6X38 with out changing rim but depending on how wide the rims are they may look awful funny because if the rim is say 13 inches wide the side walls of the tire will be almost straight up and down
