hydraulic systems

when I hook up a ditch bank mower hydraulics backwards (up is down and down up) it struggles to lift...if I hook it up right it doesn't. Are the pressures set different. I thought it was either or and didn't effect operation... Looking into it others have said it does matter.

Does it or is it a sign of trouble ahead? Popped right up when I set it up right. It has a loader and I use the controls that tilt the bucket. Downward pressure on the bucket will lift the front right off the ground with ease and why I never gave a thought to different pressures

Explain in a little clearer details. Pressure is determined by the resistance of the load. Do you have a 3000 PSI gauge?

No I don't have a gauge...It seems the lifting pressure is greater than the downward pressure...I thought the control was just directional and the pressure equal in either direction...mine struggles to lift the ditch bank mower vertical for transporting with the lines hooked up so the control functions backwards (down is up and up is down)and requires a high rpm. If I hook them up so the control functions in its proper directions it pops right up and doesn't require a high rpm.

It is the control that tilts the bucket and wouldn't need downward pressure to dump. The control that lifts the bucket, the 3 point and the power steering have no issues.

It's a woods S106 and showed up with the cylinder single acting... I converted it to double.

1850 gas...I haven't tried hooking them up to the lift side of the bucket, if I do I can't raise or lower it around obstacles.

Is the control just directional or is the pressure through each line independent of each other? If I put a gauge on each line are they supposed to read the same pressure or can they be independently adjusted? If they can someone before me may have.

I've only tested the the operation to see if anything changed and it did drastically, very responsive now through several cycles...I haven't used it yet

Could have issues with a bad hose end. Do not forget a hyd ram will have more force extending due to using whole piston area. Other way have to subtract area of shaft from equation.
