Oliver Super 55 three point issue

My Oliver super 55 I bought last summer. It runs great except for a few things I am working on to correct. One is the PTO. It runs constantly. It's because a prior owner had put an single hydraulic remote on it and placed it in the way of the PTO lever. I decided today to remove that and see if I could move the lever forward to stop the PTO. So off it came. I plugged the connecting points under the seat where it was connected. and removed all of the hoses and the lever. The handle for the PTO could then come forward enough to stop the PTO. It would not stop the PTO without holding pressure on the handle so there is still some adjustments needed there. However the bigger issue was that when I went to raise the three point they did nothing. Worked fine with this remote on just days before but off there is no action. I checked the fluid level and it's below the tip and looks like I am way down. Also this fluid is cream white. Likely I need to drain the fluid and refill with fresh. How though would removing the remote cause the fluid to be so low. There is no fluid on the ground under the tractor so I am sure I didn't leak it out.

Question, what fluid and how much to refill this? Also where do drain the fluid? Is there concern of the white fluid? If so what should I look for? Have I done something to cause the three point to quite working?
If so what? How do I adjust the PTO to stop when the arm is forward?

Thanks guys for the help. I hope to get to mowing and baling soon. Like to use this tractor for more than the rake this year.

Unless I am mistaken, by plugging off the ports for your external valve you just blocked the flow for the hydraulics and are sending all of the oil over the relief valve. The flow goes through the open center remote valve you removed and then back to the 3 point. If you plan to leave the valve off you will need to connect the ports with a hose to allow flow to your 3 point. I would guess your PTO clutch plates are warped a little causing drag and allowing the PTO to turn when in the off position.

Thanks for the reply. So if this remote were not used on the tractor what or how does the fluid pass through these with it removed from the factory? I didn't see anything there where I took these out that lead me to believe that they couldn't be plugged off. The remote did nothing other than allow a ram to operate from the back of the tractor and I haven't had need of it yet. Where it was was a good place for use but didn't allow the PTO handle to come to the stop point so the PTO ran all the time. Removal was the only option to this. Now was there a plate or something that may have bolted onto where these hoses came off from? Or possibly a bypass so the fluid ran in and out of these now plugged holes? Any thoughts?

Ed: Look at the picture. Behind that block are 2 ports that allow the fluid to make a U-turn so that the 3 point can raise. The 1/4 inch pipe plug in that cover needs to be removed and a hose install there and the oil pumped out of the hydraulic unit. I asked you once for a serial number because not all Super 55 hydraulic units are alike. I still need that number. On the PTO you will need to make the Z split so you can rebuilt the PTO unit. Post your e-mail and or your phone number! Do you have at least an operators manual for the tractor? More questions? J.

J. the serial number is 16-678- 518 and sorry no haven't bought the manual yet. The manual is a bit pricey and I can't put the money down just now. I have other things that need the money to warrant the need to spend that kind of money. Will get it some day but not presently.

So based upon what I have read from you all this remote has to be here to allow the three point to work. Where would it be from factory to allow the PTO lever clearance. Not where it is now that I know. If I reroute the remote where do you all place it so it's out of the way and still accessible? I may have to mount this back on somewhere else and change things around to make the tractor operational again. Or find the plate to block it off. Sorry Oliver company this isn't the best idea you had I feel.

As to the PTO your saying I need to split the tractor? This isn't something I feel confident doing. Is it a job to do and or something fairly easy? I have an idea what I went though with another color tractor changing the ring gear out and that wasn't that bad. Although it was far lighter than this tractor. If this were something a shade tree mechanic could do I might possibly be able to do it. Otherwise I am at an end. Not sure where I could get work done on this tractor anymore.

Any thought on the milky oil? Or what to replace this oil with? I am reading online 85w-140 oil sound right? If I have to go through this much work to get it operational I need to get the right fluid.

J you emailed me before but here's the email [email protected]

Yes I did. I'll get back to you soon. Coming in off a holiday and my work needs my attention. Tractor issue is on the side for the moment.
