White 4-180 were these a good tractor

There were a few around here, guys kept them for a long time, must have been OK. The guys would
not have kept them around.

I just bought a 4-150 last fall which is that guys little brother without the planetaries. I love the heck out of it, just having a heck of a time working out the bugs from the previous owner/owners not being able to properly use tools. Aside from riding a little rough its a easy to run tractor with plenty of power. Cant see a 180 being much different.

Thanks guys for the replies, I have no need or interest but have always liked the looks of the tractor, what engine was in the 4-150?

Yep, that engine like many other engines has
many different HP ratings depending on the
use. From all the way down to 100 HP, to all
the way up to probably 250-300+ as a rough
guess. Marine engines are usually
substantially higher HP than their on land
counterparts, just depends on what it's
being put in. That is a 10.8? L engine, so
it does have some pretty good displacement.
Maybe not a lot of torque being a V8, but a
wide variety of HP. Wind it up and let it
run, just like most V8 diesels. I always
kind of thought of the 3208 as a terd or a
boat anchor, but I have seen some real good
ones as well

Thanks Ross, I did look it up on tractor data and I seen both tractors used the 3208, yea like lots of things I've heard good bad and other about it.

They are a 4-150 with planetaries (think 1950 rear end with planetaries turned into the 2150 rear end, similar concept. 4-150 used 2-105 rear ends)

I think they also got rid of the 3spd powershift and had a high low box. Pretty sure this was prior to the heavy duty 3 speed coming out.

They were not great tractors, but not nearly as bad as some make it out to be, especially if it has had all the factory updates.

a 4-210 is alot better rig, it uses 2-135/2-155 axles.

That said, if it runs, and everything works good, it will be a decent rig. a mediocre tractor in good shape is better than a great tractor in poor shape.
