Oil Pressure

I have a 1750 Oliver with a 310 Diesel. I am noticing that my oil pressure drops under 20 psi after engine heats up. Engine runs well with plenty of power. I currently run 15w40 Rotella T oil. Should I change the viscosity?

20 pounds is at what engine RPM? How much oil pressure do you have when engine operating temperature is cold? Does your block has a place for an engine oil cooler?

How far under 20? And by heated up, do you mean warm or working/load hot? I run Shell 15w40 in my 1750, and totally cold it's around 60-70psi. Warmed up = 40-50, and working-hot it's around 30?. Normal op range for working full load hot is supposed to be 20-30.

I have had a 1750 since the early 80's. The oil pressure is the same as yours, starts out just under 40,warms up and runs all day just under 20. Great tractor.

ive been told that using 15w-40 is not a good idea in these engines the factory used & book shows straight 30w , shell makes a rotella 30w diesel oil , thats what i use w/ 1 quart of lucas added in my 310-t , 15-40 is thinner then 30w
