Diesel fuel in oil

My 88 diesel is getting diesel in the oil I've only ran it about 8 hours in the last year I plan on running it more this year I'm going to change the oil of course but my question is where could it be coming from? And will it hurt to run it with diesel in the oil? Thank you

Many years ago I had a similar problem with a JD 1010C. On that machine there was a seal on the fuel pump shaft that was letting the fuel oil go into the crankcase.

The little lift pump on the side of the engine is the usual suspect in that case. Korves has kits for them.

Agree either lift pump or around shaft of injection pump. Probably not good idea to run it too much. Will thin motor oil out and as times by will leak more, not less. I think there is an umbrella seal around pump shaft that isn't "too hard" to change.

Korves kits do not include check valves. I wasn't very happy when I got mine.

Thanks everyone I will order a kit for that pump hopefully I can do that in the next week or two thank you again
