1855 Clunking in Transmission

My 1855 got stuck in 2 gears at once today. Tractor wouldn't move...let the clutch out it would choke down. After pulling gearshift and getting everything lined back up, I now have a clunk in the transmission. Doesn't matter if tractor is moving or sitting still. If the clutch is out and trans. is turning...approx every 2 secs....is a clunk. Anybody seen this before or have any ideas?? THanks

Working on a 1755 right now, very similar description of problem, it had a broken shift rail in transmission, had to almost dismantle the entire tractor to change it, hope you find your problem and it is something simple.

Mine shifts like it is supposed to after I put it back together. Just has the clunk or knock. Did yours shift okay with the broke rail?? I can't figure out...what would be turning that slow in the tranny to make this noise. I timed it....2 secs. between knocks. Seems to be quieter, when the tractor is wound up....or maybe just because the tractor is louder??

John, with the trans. in neutral, moving the hydraul, from under, direct and over...does not change the speed of the knock/clunk. Maintains 2 to 3 secs. between knocks. Any ideas?
