sears digitork torque wrench calibration

does anyone have experience with adjusting them. i have digital calibration unit. i see a parts diagram but there is no allen screw to adjust. i can send to sears by dropping it off and picking it up, but dont know how long, how much or if they are accurate. anyone have any experience. will probably just buy a tektron wrench which has external adjustment screw and be done with it.

I'd throw it away and buy a kobalt from lowes with lifetime guarantee. Next step up would be a CDI off ebay which is a division of snap on for half the cost. No more sears torque wrenches for me. You need that tool to do its job correctly.

I'll second on the Kobalt. I did that very thing and like it a lot. I've got a lot of older Craftsman tools and have bought a lot of Craftsman tools in the last year and a half, but wouldn't buy one of their torque wrenches. Matter of fact, their ratchets period are junk compared to the Kobalt ratchets at Lowes.

I have no experience with CDI or Tekton torque wrenches. I have a few other Tekton tools, seem fine. Looked at their torque wrench when I was in the market, but went with the Kobalt since I can just walk into the store and exchange it.

how does wrench get out of calibration? I just bought a Craftsman 3/8 torque wrench to work on lawn mower, seemed to work fine for me. Pembroke

pemboke I had a tire shop for 22+ years we always torqued wheels, probably bought dozens of less expensive torque wrenches over the years. they wear, get dropped, left outside in the snowbank, etc. We always kept 3 or 4 on the floor and had 2 or 3 in for calibration at all times. Then we started buying Snap on wrenches at 3 or 4 times the price of the cheaper ones, but they seldom needed adjusted, when they did our snap on guy had the stuff on the truck to do it. We tried the beam style torque wrenches. That turned out to be a huge mistake. These things would get used 15+ times per day. The beam style will get weak where they flex and cause wheels to come off. Experience speaking here. 3 and 4 month old beam style torque wrenches went in the dumpster.
