2-105 Hydraulics

Well we installed a new hydraulic pump last summer, flushed system twice and replaced filter. Hydraulics never worked better. Stored the tractor over winter, disconnected battery and left it sit. Fired it up yesterday and hooked up round baler and pulled both outside to clean baler. Found out 3 point hitch(tractor has external lift cylinders on the three point) would not move-stuck in high position. Then discovered that rear door on baler would barely open, seems like pressure is low. How do I get 3 point to work- bleed cylinders or pull on arms with skid loader or another tractor? I tried prying on the cylinders with the motor running and could not get cylinders to retract. Would the three point being stuck in the high position cause a low pressure problem with slave cylinders? Power steering, brakes and PTO seem to be fine and system is full of fluid. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

i've worked mostly on Oliver but if im right the 2-105 is about them as 18 & 1955 tractors ,PTO, power steering & brakes only require around 200 PSI to operate , 3- point & remotes operate at around 3200 PSI ( full pump press.) , id put a test gauge in the remote to see how much pressure is being made & go from there. did the hyd. system have alot of dirt in it?

Remotes and 3pt are Teed together from the priority valve on the side of the trans case below the hyd. filter. The valve in there regulating flow/pressure to the 3 point and remotes maybe stuck from debris. I assume your other pump failed or come apart. The 3 point and remotes must have sufficient pressure to overcome a safety valve for functions to work. That is why 3 point and remotes won't lower raised equipment when tractor is not running. If the 3 point is being bottomed out against the top of the cylinder, a relief valve is probably being opened. You should be able to lift the 3 point arms some to confirm this. If they're bottomed out, you most likely have linkage issues with draft control or others. Unless 3 point is used often, it may require 200lbs or so to get it to move down. Move the point control down slowly while standing on the arms and see if they move.

Thanks- We got a pressure gauge and checked pressure. Initially had 1800 at the remotes. Three point was still stuck. Neighbor came by and showed us that the draft control linkage was preventing 3 point from working. Pushed on draft control linkage, 3 point started working and pressure at the remotes jumped to 2250. Now the baler door opens like it should. We had taken the 3 point arms off last year to keep them from ruining the baler pto shaft and did not realize draft control linkage could lock up the arms. Neighbor has all of his 3 point arms removed also on all of his Whites and Olivers and had encountered similar problems with his hydraulics too when the draft control linkage would cause the 3 point to lockup. Good to know because we also have removed the arms on our 2-85 and 1750 too. But did not have any hydraulic issues with them. Neighbor told us he routinely had to play with draft control linkage on his 2-85 but his other tractors never acted up. Now that we have gone to essentially no-till and chisel plows, there is no reason to have a 3 point on our farm.
