would like to take the wide front off a 1650 or 55 & put a narrow front on , never done this befor & dont have a narrow front tractor here to compare too , so question is how hard i this to do ? what parts do i need from the donor narrow front tractor ? Are all 4 digit Olivers the same front end parts?

Need to romove sheet metal and cast grille. Then remove the small cast cover on the steering box under the radiator. Then use a Small screwdriver or pic to remove A small metal docs with an o ring on it. Next loosen up the cap screw that which is in the steering box whic you cannot see. Next loosen the cap screws which hold the wide front to the tractor. jack the tractor up and take out all the cap screws. The wide front should slide off as you jack the tractor up. Re assembly will be simple once you get the wide front off and just reverse the process.

so the only parts that get changed are the front end its self, does the narrow front still use the same hyd. cyl. to steer with or is that part of the narrow front internally , the hyd. end of it is my biggest concern , thanks

Still use the same cylinder, yes. Instead of the short shaft that turns the center steering arm on the wide front, the narrow front has a shaft sticking up out of the top of it. Just pull the gear in the center of the cylinder, jack it up,take out the bolts holding the wide front to the frame, drop it out, roll the narrow front under and put the bolts back in. Not quite that easy since those parts are as heavy and awkward as a baby giraffe, but use a cherry picker to steady things and it's a simple switch.

You don't have to remove the grill. I just did the opposite to my 1650. Wish I knew you sooner. I have a narrow front I would sell cheap. It
needs top and bottom bearings in it. Has the hubs on it. I don't know where you are, but if you happen to be coming to the National Oliver
show in Madison, In, I am about 15 miles from there. I can bring it to the show. I might have my 1650 there. It is hard to believe, but I
have known this tractor since new. A neighbor bought it new and used it about 3 years and had a heart attack and a few years later died and
it sat in the barn for a lot of years and the tach shows 588 hours. It is the original one. I also got the plows and disc with it and they
are like new. All it has done since about 1970 is plowed a garden and mowed around the barn. I use it now it is a great tractor. It will be
tedding hay tomorrow.
