IT TWITCHES (not alive but getting closer)

Finally making headway on the 1650 no-start issue. After finding broken insulation on the hot cable to the starter, thought maybe it was close enough to the frame under the platform that it may short out, put new one in, no difference my wife wondered if the tractor had a safety switch. I hadn't checked before found out it did and it hadn't been disconnected, it is now. As soon as we did it tried to crank. I had the starter rebuilt but evidently it wasn't done right because the starter sounded like a coffee grinder. Had her shut it off and then nothing on a restart, completely silent. Tried again tonight after putting the old starter solenoid back on, it cranks but the starter grinds something fierce. At least when you shut it off and try a restart it will try to turn over. Figure I'll put another starter on and maybe that will take care of it. I'm getting 12.5V throughout the system so I don't believe it is a low voltage problem.
