My grandpa has a 2-70 white that's overheating. New t stat and water pump from a recent headgasket job. He says it has done it a long time ever since he had the pump shop go through the pump. It was supposed to be turned up 10 percent. It only overheats when working it hard. Ask the passages we can get at with the head off are clean and the radiator is clean as well. It seems there is allot in front of the radiator like the air and precleaner as well as the trans and powershift cooler. Going to dyno it to check power and if its not excessive then going to look into getting more air across the radiator. Anyone here have any ideas or things to look for

If the cooling system is in good condition, could be the max fuel is set a bit too high. When it's on the dyno, if the pump has a torque screw the HP setting can be lowered if needed by turning the screw in. Does it smoke heavy black under full load now? If so pump may be set too warm. Make sure air intake system is in good condition too.

there is only a light haze during loads. Unloaded there is virtually none. By comparison his 1755 smokes an awful lot but never gets hot. I'm thinking it's turned up too much by the fact that he says he can't tell much difference power wise between the 17 and the 2-70. I had a temp gun on his coolant hose and on a 70 degree day the hot side was 188 and the cold side was 178 and he wasn't pushing it hard to even get it hot. He says you can tell a big difference if its pointing into the wind or not. I am a Deere tech so I told him to put it on the dyno at work to see if its a power issue or a cooling system issue.

My 2-105 was overheating pretty bad last spring. I had to have the radiator recored. When they took the top tank off,it was just plain white with lime scale. It doesn't matter how hard I work it now,the temp gauge stays right down in the lower half of the green.
