1655 hydraulics

Bought the neighbors sprayer with hydraulic pump. When trying to spray the hydraulics on my 1655 got VERY hot. The tractor and pump are open hydraulic systems. The tractor output is 14.6 gpm and the max for the hydraulic pump on the sprayer is 7. Obviously there is a lot of oil going thru the relief valve causing the extreme heating of the oil. What is the best solution?? Maybe running the tractor at a lot lower rpm or buying a different pump with greater oil flow. thanks

What pressure are you seeing when the sprayer pump is at maximum flow? I will send you an e-mail later. Years ago Oliver sent out a bulletin with some guide lines for matching motors to open & closed center systems. Are you going to use the sprayer on any other tractor?

When spraying the pressure was running between 30 and 40 psi. the sprayer has a Hiniker controller which is set at 18 gpa. It kept that rate within a gallon or so. It automatically adjust the pressure and flow according to the speed I am running. When the booms were shutoff on the ends the pressure went up to 60+ psi. Not sure exactly what it was though. thanks for your help

A long time ago I had a hydraulic open center sprayer pump. I thought it had a by-pass valve on the hydraulic motor you could adjust to send part of the oil back to the tractor.

this is the sprayer pressure. Not sure how to check the hydraulic pressure. I believe the relief valve dumps at 2100 psi. When using this tractor with a hydraulic cylinder everything works fine so I am assuming the pressure is normal.
