77 losing hyd oil

My 77 has started dumping hyd oil into trans . 3pt wouldn't work added hyd oil 3pt went up and down about enough to hook to box blade and was out of oil again. Where do I start to look for problem?

77 I had did that too, hydraulic pump drive shaft seals need replaced..

My S88 did that and my 77 does that. Common problem with them and the seals in the pump go bad from the PTO drive shaft that runs the pump. Not all that bad of a job to fix. You have to pull the PTO housing off pull the shaft out and then pull the pump housing up and off. Been about 10 years since i did the one on my S88 and should do the 77 but it leaks slowly so I just drain the transmission and then pour it back in the hyd system

Just like the other guys said, it's probably the seals. However, the hyd pump is the lowest part of that system, so that is also where condensation and water will collect, and if you live in a cold region that freezes, it can break the center section of the hyd pump. That will cause it to empty quite quickly. Need to pull the pump either way. The seals are easily obtained from a good auto parts store. If it cracked or broke the center section, there is a guy on here that goes by "Centerplate", that builds and sells them.

I agree with the other posters on here. They have the correct advice. Also look at the bottom of the base plate if you do not find a problem with the pump. Normally the pump would crack before the base plate.
