Thought I would post a picture of my 990. This old tractor hung around near the plant in Charles City for many, many years. The fellow who owned it before me was named Ruben Weins, if I remember correctly. Some of the Charles City folks may remember him. He ran the shipping and trucking facility that shipped large numbers of Oliver and White tractors from the factory.

As I recall, he found this tractor on a "peat farm" up in Minnesota or N. Dakota. He had memories of sending new 990's up to Fargo ND.

It's not a bad old tractor. I have done some work to it ( and it needs some more ) but have never touched the 3-71. It runs and pulls pretty good, drips oil, wet stacks, makes plenty of noise and air pollution, and is just politically incorrect for modern times - what's not to like ??!!.

Excello - I have one that appears to be like yours. It is just ready to go to the paint booth. Mind also has the Hydralics on the right side and lights mounted like yours. Has the same wheels also. Other than being a little loud, lot of fun to drive.

I do some plowing with my 990, wish I had hydra-lectric like yours! Just keep enjoying it, hate to see 'em sit around in a collection unused. Glad to see it's back close to "home."Thanks for posting the pic.

excello, Chances are it was on the Minnesota side, Nice find !All there is on the North Dakota side in Fargo clay [or Gumbo]LOL.

I might give you $1 more than big T just to rattle his chain. Nice old Oliver and yes, we are all a little envious of you Excello. Happy farming.

Thanks for posting the photo of your tractor. I basically have its twin and enjoy it for still being in its farm clothes. Yours is in perfect shape and would be a shame to restore IMO. What I did to mine was give it a bath with some RV Black Streak Remover and the results were great. The oxidation and rust streaks were removed and the old girl actually had some shine.
