770 power booster

Looking at a 770 coming up on a sale. Did they all have power boaster or was it an option? How can I tell? It has a long lever on the left side feels like a hand clutch. Is that power booster?

I think you could order them without a power booster. Yes, the tall lever on the left side that snaps over center like a hand clutch is the lever for the power booster. It should take a fair amount of pressure to engage high range and it should have a good snap to it when you pull the lever back. Test drive it with a good load in both ranges to make sure it doesn't slip. Use one of the higher gears and brakes if no other load is available. High range is usually adjustable if the clutch plates aren't worn out. Low range is not adjustable. Usually means the sprage clutch is bad and possibly the shaft. In low range, it is free wheeling so, if you are going downhill in the direction of travel in low range it will take off like it's in neutral.
