1550 Oil leaks around Hyd. lever area.

Have a 1550 and it is really wet around the right hand side under the seat and all the way down to the bottom of the rearend housing. Im thinking ive got hydraulic oil leaking from the tubes where the levers come out?. Tractor has set a year and oil still slowly leaks. Where could the most of this oil come from? and is it a major chore to fix or replace all of these seals? Could it be other places than the tubes? Have any of you guys ever had this issue? Thanks

The hydraulic levers are on concentric shafts and are sealed with O-rings. The oil level isn't up that high and there's no pressure on them. Overfilled and breather clogged? Could be leaking at the bleed screw or the nut around the restrictor valve. Also the O-ring that seals the lift control shaft.

One of the most common sources of leaks on the side of those is the interlock bleed screw. Look below the rockshaft. You'll see two screws that take a flathead screwdriver. There's a copper crush washer under the locknut and the locknut itself has a nylon insert. If that's the source of the leak, you'll probably have to go with a brass washer now,but go to the hardware store and get one for a 3/8th bolt and a nylon insert lock nut for a 3/8ths coarse thread. Swap those out and it should take care of it. The oil tends to walk itself out around the threads on that screw after it's been loosened just a time or two.

The lift control lever is connected to another lever below by a double ended screw. That lever is on a shaft that goes into a tube, only one O-ring. Clean and dry everything real good and keep checking till you find the leak first. Follow Randy's suggestion on the bleed screw. It's in the cavity of the valve housing right below the seat. One on each side. Don't get into the control lever until you're sure that's the problem. Is the breather clear? As the fluid heats up it could build a little pressure and cause leaks.

Its not the bleed screw,,,that area is completely dry. What is the 3/8" bolt sticking half way out the side infront of and below the hydraulic levers? I think oil is coming from that spot among others? I need to take some picks sometime.
